The River Godavari is the lifeline of the people of Andhra Pradesh and several villages are established along the shores of the river. Thus a number of Ghats are existing on the riverfront. There are 151 Ghats in East Godavari District and 89 Ghats in West Godavari District identified in connection with Godavari Maha Pushkaram 2015.
The following facilities are created at the Ghats to facilitate a memorable experience for the pilgrims:
- Bathing ghats for bathing purposes along with rescue barricading
- Rooms for dress changing purpose
- Platforms for Pinda Pradanams
- Public Toilets
- Provision of safe drinking water
- Other arrangements.
