After the overcrowding and stampede incident at Pushkar Ghat in Rajahmundry, Chief Minister has taken steps to ensure that no such mishaps would happen again. The situation, therefore, is brought under control and the normalcy is restored.
Chief Minister has earlier offered heartfelt condolences to the families that endured loss of lives. He announced an exgratia of Rs. 10 lakhs to these families. He also visited all the pilgrims who were injured in the stampede and offered them complete support for their quick recovery.
At this juncture, he requested support from the public to make Godavari Maha Pushkaram a safe and peaceful event. He asked people not to panic. He requested one and all to avoid overcrowding and rushing into a single ghat.
“Please maintain restraint, follow queue lines and instructions, and head to other Pushkar Ghats when you see excess crowd at one place. Pilgrims safety is of top priority to us. We will provide complete assistance”, said the Chief Minster.
There are over 250 Ghats identified by the Government for the Pushkaram. About 160 of those Ghats are in East Godavari District and 90 Ghats are in West Godavari District. Click below to know further.
